Audio extension cable male female

Considering its only 5 ft. I don't think it would have any affect at all.

Everything you add to the signal path reduces output and adds distortion. But a 5 foot extension probably won't make much of an audible difference with cheap headphones.

i'm trying to look for a 3.5mm male-female extension cable that i can use to plug in my headphones to my mp3 player. thing is, all that i can find in all the electronics shops here are at least 1 meter long. i just need half of that length. so i went to the hardware store and saw some 3.5 mm male jacks and female inputs, and thought of just making one of my own. i really hope someone can teach me how to do that... or at least point me to a website that can do just that. thanks! i'm not trying to get a LONGER cable. i need a SHORTER cable, say, 2 feet in length max. i just need to know how to MAKE it using a 3.5 mm jack, input and cable.

the reason you're finding them so short is that there is a maximum distance before radiation distortion is introduced. It's the same with all cabling. Just thought i'd drop that down for you before you make a 12 foot cable only to find that the sound is crap.

I can't find a decent-quality audio extension cable anywhere. So I figure it would be better to use my existing male RCA to male 3.5mm Monster cable, and put a female RCA to female 3.5mm adapter on it. They don't seem to be in existence, only female RCA to male mini stereo. Could I perhaps purchase an RCA coupler and then plug my monster cables in one end and a male RCA to female mini stereo adapter (which does exist) to the other end? Thanks.

You seem to be concerned about quality. If so, you do not want to introduce adapters into the mix. This, combined with an extension cable, will degrade quality. It will certainly render your expensive Monster cable's benefits null and void.
